In this rapidly evolving healthcare landscape triggered by COVID-19, pathology, and remote diagnosis have been elevated to critical topics. Hamamatsu’s Scott Blakely will converse with Dr. Hanna and Stathonikos about overcoming the challenges associated with digital pathology implementation and the lessons learned during the process. They will also discuss user experiences and workflow modifications necessary for successful implementation. We will also get a peek into findings specific to digital pathology implementation during COVID-19 at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

About the presenters

Matthew G Hanna, MD, is the Director of Digital Pathology Informatics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is an Assistant Attending of Breast Pathology and Informatics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he completed his Oncologic Pathology fellowship training. Prior appointments include being a Clinical Instructor of Pathology Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also completed his Pathology Informatics fellowship. He completed his residency training at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. Hanna serves as a member on the CAP Informatics Committee. He has strong interests in clinical and pathology informatics, and breast pathology.

 

Nikolas Stathonikos is the IT manager responsible for the entire Digital Pathology infrastructure at the University Medical Center of Utrecht. He was involved in the Digital Pathology implementation and the day-to-day operations of the facility. He has supported several Dutch national projects on digital pathology and has a background in medical image analysis. He is a Ph.D. candidate on digital slide analysis.
