The collaboration will allow interoperability between ScanPilot™ and NanoZoomer® scanners for technical image-quality assessment and autonomous rescanning in cytology.

Hamamatsu Corporation and AIxMed, a developer of software for digital cytology workflows, today announced a technical collaboration to evaluate the integration of AIxMed's ScanPilot™ with selected Hamamatsu NanoZoomer® whole-slide scanner configurations for research and development workflows. ScanPilot analyzes digitized cytology slide images for predefined technical image-quality characteristics, identifies regions that may benefit from improved focus, and can propose focal points and rescan parameters for compatible configurations.

ScanPilot™ is designed to support technical image-quality assessment and scan workflow optimization for digitized cytology slides. The software identifies blurry or out-of-focus regions and proposes focal points and scanning parameters for automatic rescanning.

"We are pleased to partner with AIxMed and add their expertise in cytology AI and workflow automation to our growing portfolio of digital solutions," said Robert Moody, Strategic Manager of Digital Pathology at Hamamatsu. "This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to integrating valuable capabilities that address the specific needs of our diverse customer base. Together, we will bring a differentiated urine cytology research workflow focused on improved image-quality and scan workflow automation."
